Anyway,
It's my month for The Bees Knees Quilting Bee that I joined up this year! (Such a fun group, I couldn't say no!)
It snuck up on me and I wasn't totally prepared. But I found a bunch of strips I cut over 3 years ago for a wonky log cabin quilt along.
I think it needed some solids to break up the prints.
So anyway, I got them back out and divided them up into sets and cut some Kona snow strips. I'm going to have my friends make me some large string blocks! I think it's going to be great! I also added some darker prints for contrast. We'll see how it goes!
So here's my finish - packages ready to mail! (I'm totally stretching for a real finish this week!)

Wow, I adore that first block you put away! This looks like its going to be a great project.
The best part is you get to re-visit some of those older, awesome fabrics. There are some of my favorites in there and I like them just as much now as I did three years ago!! The quilt is going to be so pretty :)
Those will make some beautiful blocks! I've been spending a lot of time lately cutting my scraps up into strips and pieces. It's fun to revisit those old projects, and makes me want to sew a scrappy quilt -- badly! lol
So... I'm so glad you posted that photo of the block that "didn't come out the way you envisioned!" I've felt that way about a couple of projects, but instead of putting them aside I plowed ahead stubbornly determined to finish what I'd started. Dumb, dumb, dumb! With so few hours in a day for creating, why waste them on a project that isn't working out? I've vowed to start mixing in more solids myself, but when I was shopping for fabric yesterday I couldn't bring myself to buy any boring old solids when the prints and batiks were so much more fun! I think I'm going to have to start doing one sample block first before cutting up all the fabric for a whole project from now on, so I can see those opportunities for improvement before I've reached the point of no return! It will be fun to see how your bee blocks come out.

Uhm, in my world this is unquestionably a finish!! It is going to be a fun quilt!
