I've had this Belle Chrysanthemum (Amy Butler) for a couple of years waiting for the perfect time to use it. I think it's perfect for spring. And The Abby Tote from Vanessa at V. and Co. was a perfect fit!
So I whipped up a little bag this last weekend. Actually, it's not little, it's a huge tote!
Isn't that sash adorable! I listened to her on Pat Sloan's internet radio show (look on the right side bar under recent shows, Vanessa Christenson) and she said the inspiration for this bag was actually the big bow and she designed the bag around that. Love.
So I think it's bag season. I helped a friend make one of my original bags the last couple of days and I can't wait to show it to you. It was so fun to help her make something and see her get as excited about it as I do! I have a couple of other bag ideas floating around in my head too, maybe I'll get on that. Not to mention the curtains and quilts I'm working on. But I just love the quick, satisfying, functional nature of a new bag.
Anyone else feel the need to finish something quick when working on longer projects? What do you sew when you need some instant gratification?

Love that bow. And If I could marry V's houndstooth quilt I totally would. When I need a quick sewing fit I make hot fudge sauce.... I clearly have issues.

I think bags are awesome quick projects! I have been waiting to see this and it's even better than I imagined...you did a great job with your fabric choices! Now I really want to make one of these...what kind of interfacing does it take, woven and fleece?
I make those Schnibbles patterns for quilt projects. They do mostly make up fast and easy, while I have a pile of ufo's looking at me ;-)
I have a style almost identical to this one that I sew. Its one of my best sellers! Everyone loves bows!
I really like the fabrics, and the bow is so pretty! My "go to" easy project is cloth napkins. I get to play with gorgeous fabrics and sew something really simple.

Love that bag! I might have to show it to my friend. I made her a bag a year ago and am about to test another pattern to make her a new one.
When I need a quick project to give me some instant gratification I usually make my kids something. Things for kids are almost always fast. Another favorite quick project is the Happy Zombie Poochie bag.
I love, love, love it! And so wish I had the gumption to make cute things, too. It must be incredibly rewarding and fulfilling.
