I made this quilt for my baby (who will be 2 in January). I was just happy I got it finished before his 1st birthday.
I picked out these fabrics for a pinwheel quilt my mom and I were going to make for me. I wanted a queen sized quilt, so I had A LOT of fabric. Since that plan was hatched about 10 years ago, my tastes have changed a bit. I didn't really want a blue and yellow quilt now. But hey! Perfect for a baby boy!
And with that much fabric I was able to make FOUR of these and give the other 3 to several dear friends who were also having baby boys around the same time! I love that our boys all have the same blanket to love.
I strip-pieced this so I didn't have to cut out any individual squares. That made it super easy and efficient when making 4 of them!
My aunt Mary did the quilting on her long arm and it's just a cute all-over stipple (next festival I plan on having a quilt I've quilted myself!)
Thanks for visiting and thanks Amy for hosting this great festival!!
My little guy just came up to the computer and saw this picture and shouted out "Blankie!!" as only an almost 2 year old can do. I'm so glad he loves it and that it's HIS blankie.

How do you keep the quilts separated when the boys are all together? Cute story!
So cute and I love the story about the four boys having the same quilt!
Wonderful story - I think sentimental quilts are the best!
So cute! Love the quilting on it too...
super cute. great job making multiple quilts at the same time!
Oh, the brightness of the blankie that sounds like it puts a sparkle in his eye! And again, your heart shows through in that you thought of others and shared your treasure and time!
Very nice. I envision them making tents together with all of them :)
this is so sweet!!! i love that you made matching ones for friends. that makes is so special. Not to mention how much your little one obviously loves his blankie! i am really looking forward to quilt festival. i am going to spend my whole night surfing it and seeing what wonderful quilts are out there.
nicely executed simple pattern in charming colors. good work!
noah loves his. yours is lovely, too.
hope you are feeling well. i have a lovely barking chorus at my house.
It is beautiful!
Amy, thank you for sharing your beautiful quilt. I love the colors. I especially like the story of your son's three little friends having the same blanket. I'll bet they like that when they are all together.
Such a cute story. Sometimes the simplest quilts are the best. I love the color blue you chose.
Happy quilting, Rhondi
cute and simple are two of my favorite words! Love that you made good use of your fabric and have a fun story for you and your friends to share, not to mention great blankies!
So cute! I love this quilt. My 2-year-old has a blankie that I made for him, and it makes me so happy to see that he loves it.
P.S. I wish my aunt Mary had a long-arm quilting machine!
And, I would love having a blankie like that - that is a sweet story and a perfect quilt!
What a great quilt, Amy... and I love that there's 4 boys all with the same quilt you made. How special!
Amy, this is a very nice colorful quilt. Thanks for sharing.
How perfect for your little boy!
Lovely story & great quilt, thanks for sharing.
Simple quilts are often the best. this one is lovely. :)
Blankie! (that's how you know you did good, MOM!~)
I love it! But I don't see any yellow? Is that headed for another four baby quilts? hehehe
I'm jealous that he loves his so much. My girls have blankies, but they are the crocheted ones that my mother-i-law's friend made for us. Despite the fact that they have 4 quilts between the two of them!
Lucky baby boy! I pulled a scrappy, cheater crazy quilt I finished out of the drier last night and my 2-year-old took it to bed with her. Nothing better than that. Love your blues!
Making quilts for children is so fulfilling, isn't it? They are so appreciative and it just warms the heart.
A great quilt which your son obviously loves.
That's such a great story Amy! Dontcha love it when things work out like that?? And I agree, perfect for a baby boy!
Darling baby quilt!
Great blues! Perfect for boys. ; ) Glad it is so...sew loved!
Cute quilts -- and perfect for baby boys! So efficient to make several at one time!
I've not seen this one before! Love your story - 4 the same that's a challenge :) Love your quilt!
The blues are so "boy" - I love it! My youngest calls his blanket his "BeeBee". Thanks for sharing!
So very cute. Love the blues!

The blues are bright and BOY perfect!
Wonderful! I think the quilts we make for our babies are the sweetest and most sentimental - especially when the baby loves them too!
This reminds me of winter and snowmen. Even though here in the desert we don't see snow very often. It came out so pretty and calming.
I was one of the lucky beneficiaries of this darling quilt! We still use it all the time with Grant. So cute. (The quilt. Well, the baby too.) :) Now if I could just have a girl sometime so you could quilt me one of your masterpieces in pink, green, and choc brown. Yes, it's all planned out. :)
I hope somebody has taken photos of the 4 little guys with their quilts -- maybe all together? That would be a Kodak moment for sure & a photo to embarrass them with in about 15 years.
Cute story and I'll look forward to the next festival and your next story.
Nice work!
Oh, it's so very simple and sweet. I love the blues that you chose---they make it sing.
Hi I'm a newbie blogger and just found you through the quilt festival. Your quilt is adorable and I can totally identify with what your profile says about the house is a mess and your obsessive creative disorder. I'm going to follow you :-)
I suspect that bright little quilt and brighter boy and wind up on your bed plenty of the time.
It is a stunning quilt and the fact that you got others out there to match is winsome beyond!
Boys are precious...sons and grandsons !!! good job!
Keep quiltin...from b-quiltin Bev
Yea - it's pretty special when one of your kids get so attached to something you make. It makes it that much more special!
Such a special quilt. The blues are so pretty against the whites.
