I have to say, if I hadn't told you all on Monday that I would have my bird quilt top done by today, I don't know if I would have made it! So thanks to you for keeping me from procrastinating. I haven't been feeling quite well, but I managed to get it done.
I really like it! But I'm still unsure if it's giving the effect that I wanted. In fact, I'm counting this as a finish because of all the work that has gone into it - but, I may add a dark border around the whole thing, so that it really looks like a window in a wall, looking out into a tree full of birds. Here's a close-up of the window panes.
Any thoughts on another border? I'm going to bind it in a red and white polka dot (why yes, the Amy Butler dots, of course!)
And just for fun, this is how I hung it. I really wish I had an honest-to-goodness clothesline.
Are you ready to share your finishes and accomplishments from this week?! We are all ready to see them! Please follow the sew & tell rules below.
1. Link to a post about a finish you had this week (don't just link to your blog, please!)
2. Link back to this post so more peeps can join in the fun! If it is a post from earlier in the week, just please add a note about sew & tell. Now that we have a button this is super easy - you can just cut and paste the html in the sidebar.
3. Enjoy getting motivated and patting each other on the backs in the comments! This is the funnest part about sew & tell - sharing and inspiring!

that is fabulous! it's art!
I'd definately put a dark border on it. It will pull the dark specks from the quilt in and make it pop! it will also give you that window effect!
you could even quilt the dark border differently with lines as though it has a wood grain effect! so many possiblities!
Love the little birdies on the quilt.
Not only is your quilt a work of art...but I love the second pic in this post, very nice perspective!

amy, it looks awesome! especially on your clothes line. you've worked and worried over this for so long and now, look at the artwork
as far as a border i would go with something that is not in there. not purple, though. maybe yellow, i don't know. whatever you do will be perfect.
It's beautiful! I've been quilting but so far no finish to post today :( I hope you have a great weekend! I finally got the button on my sidebar.
I love the idea of the darker border to make it look like a window!!!! I say GO FOR IT!!!

Your quilt is amazing! I think a dark border would look great!
I should work on mine......
I made a raglan t shirt this week, from the Sew By Wendy books. The sizing was a little off, but I altered it and now I know what to do. It would have been super short if I were any taller ...
I am finishing quilting on a jacket! I am very excitied to be able to wear my quilt!! I posted my link!!! Thanks for letting us all play along.
Blessings,
KT

And last but not least your blog is great very inpirating!
I want this quilt! It's beautiful Amy. Good job. I envy your talent.
Your bird quilt is really pretty. I love the colors. For the binding I would use a fabric from the bird fabrics. I look forward to see the finished quilt.
Amy thanks for sending the link! I like how it turned out! It makes me hopeful for my quilting bee month in May :-)
